Paul Lindsay
Chair of the Board of Trustees
Paul’s
vision for Moorlands is that it will keep focused on the essentials of
equipping Christians to be effective servants…a place of training not just
education; a place of spiritual fervour as well as academic excellence. He
is a Moorlands graduate, and thankful to God for perhaps three of the most formative and influential years of his Christian life. Post graduation Paul was asked to join
the college staff team, to engage in it’s extension ministry, enabling students
to gain practical ministry experience as part of their training and personal
development.
After
thirteen years on the staff team, he accepted a call to lead the work of
Christian Vocations, with a vision of seeing hundreds if not thousands called
to serve God more fully – whether in a ‘full-time’ capacity or full time
Christians impacting the workplace and local community where they live. Paul
currently continues to lead that ministry, which is now part of Global
Connections, believing “mission is at the heart of the church, and church
should be at the heart of mission”. His focus is providing the best recruitment
service for Christians in the UK and developing vocational resourses and help,
personal development and member care for Christians in the church and in
ministry.
Paul
is married to Bev, also a former staff member of Moorlands; they have three
children and seven grandchildren! They live and worship in
Wolverhampton where they’re part of a small church, where he’s involved in
teaching/preaching and leading worship.

that played such a large part in planting vision and developing skills I’ve

John
Fowler
Member of the Board
John’s
vision for Moorlands is for the college to prepare and equip those
called to
service for God, so that they might reach their full potential in
service for
Him. He also believes that the
college should be a resource to the local churches where possible and
appropriate.
John
worked in industry for many years working for 23 years in BT. In 1995
he felt God call him in a
new direction, resulting in his training at Moorlands graduating three
years
later. He now leads New Life
Church in New Milton a church that has had good connections with the
college
for many years. He is grateful for
the excellent training that Moorlands gave him to prepare for pastoral
ministry, although there is always something new to learn in the role.
John
also teaches in a small way on the Biblical Studies module as part of
the
Moorlands Foundation Course.
John
is married to Miriam who is a registered nurse working part time within
the
nursing team at a local hospice.
Miriam also supports John in the work at New Life Church, apart from
being mum to their three children all girls, one about to enter
university
whilst the others are working.
When not busy with church life John enjoys DIY, gardening and watching
motor racing.

Astrid Vaswani
Member of the Board
Astrid is a BU Accredited Minister at Tonbridge Baptist Church where she is engaged in a wide range of pastoral activity. Astrid and her husband Paul met at Moorlands and married at the turn of the century! For a period of time Paul served in ministry also but is currently working for an IT organisation which supplies databases to Churches and other charitable organisations. They have one daughter Jessica who is at primary school. Before going into ministry Astrid worked as a Human Resources manager for a number of years in both retail and manufactoring sectors. It is a level of HR expereince Astrid hopes to bring to the Board as well as a generalist background in pastoral work. As a former student, it is refreshing and exciting to see how the College has developed the courses and the facilities for students so that each is better equipped to serve God.
Being a wife, mum and minister doesn't leave Astrid a lot of spare time but she still finds time to bake and enjoys making jewellery too.
