Moorlands is just north of Christchurch, a beautiful Dorset seaside town. Within easy reach of Bournemouth and Poole, the College, and the surrounding area, is a most desirable place to live, study, worship and relax. As you plan what to do with your spare time the biggest problem will be choosing from the amazing range of leisure options. They include walks through the New Forest and Hardy's Wessex, sailing in the local harbours, excellent local fishing, playing for one of the College sports teams or just soaking in the sun on the miles of sandy beach!

The Climate!

Moorlands is situated on the south coast of England and we enjoy good summers and mild winters. Snow is rare near the coast, although not unheard of, and the summers are warm but not always hot. The lows in the winter are around minus 2°C – 0°C and the highs in the summer are around 22 – 28°C.

You may be wise to bring something warm to wear in the evenings, even during the summer months. Very hot days (over 30°C) are not common, so air conditioning is not as widespread as in warmer countries.

During the winter, people will often wear several different layers of clothing. This allows them to keep warm when walking outside, but to remain comfortable when inside a heated building. Most buildings use central heating during the winter.

Days can seem very short during the winter and long during the summer. On the last Sunday in March watches and clocks are put forward by 1 hour as the country changes to British Summer Time (GMT+1). This lasts for the duration of the summer, until the last Sunday in October, when clocks are put back by 1 hour as the country changes back to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). It is important to remember this, as it will make you late or early for your daily activities.

Christchurch is linked to the national bus and rail network, offering quick and regular service to London. Bournemouth International Airport is only 3 miles away.
