Training Team

Ruth Coffey

Ruth Coffey, Lecturer at Moorlands College

Ruth leads the Foundation Year at Moorlands Christchurch campus. She came from a lifetime career of nursing, working in hospitals, hospice and General Practice. There was a sense of calling to change focus 8 years ago and work as a Tutor within the college environment, complete her Masters in Applied Theology and take on leading Foundation Year. Between Nursing and college life she spent 3 years working in an Expatriate Church as a Pastoral Co- Ordinator. This role involved setting up a pastoral team, and building a caring community that struggled with many different issues than she had encountered within the UK. Ruth has been involved in teaching alongside Ian, her husband, over many years, at Spring Harvest, Keswick and churches throughout the UK and as far as Japan & Australia. Ruth and Ian have four sons and 11 Grandchildren. Ruth’s part-time teaching role allows her to care for two days per week for three of those Grandchildren.
