Study on the beautiful south coast
All Moorlands College programmes are available to study at our Christchurch Campus. At some point during your degree—even as a placement-based or an MA student—you’ll spend time at our campus learning and contributing to the community.

Our campus-based option gives you the unique opportunity to identify your future ministry and prepare for it in a Christian learning environment. A local placement accompanies your study, giving you practical experience in a Christian context.

We also offer a placement-based mode of study at Christchurch, giving you the scope to be on placement whilst also studying. Our surrounding areas of Bournemouth, Poole, Southampton and the New Forest are home to a large number of churches and Christian organisations who offer placement opportunities.

Study blocks
Christchurch placement-based students attend college for taught sessions one day per week during term time, as well as three five-day study blocks held at our Christchurch Campus.

Christchurch campus-based students attend lectures over an average of four days per week, spread across the term.

“I wanted to experience community, and what better place to do it? I’ve been blown away by the support, joy and hilarity that living in community can provide.”
Daniel, campus-based student

Beaches and countryside
Based on the south coast of England, our fully-equipped Christchurch Campus combines the benefits of a peaceful location with a wide range of amenities, places and opportunities right on our doorstep. We’re in easy reach of Bournemouth, with its busy town centre, popular nightlife and choice of sandy beaches. We’re also on the edge of the scenic New Forest, renowned for its ancient woodland, open moors, peaceful heathland and clifftop walks.

Six four-day study blocks are held in the South West, and a further three five-day study blocks at the Christchurch Campus.

“The study blocks have enabled me to learn more about theology and youth work. I’ve grown immensely… The staff are always available to support, help and pray.”

Placement-based in the Midlands
Our Midlands Regional Centre focuses on delivering both of our BA programmes as placement-based options, giving you the opportunity to be on placement whilst also studying. Study blocks are held throughout the academic year, with accommodation available at both locations. Students who choose the convenience of the Midlands Regional Centre aren’t only residents of Birmingham and the Midlands area, but often come from further afield—including Wales, Scotland and the Isle of Man.

“The Midlands was the perfect choice… I could still serve my church and community whilst gaining a qualification at a distance! The study weeks make it practical for those who want to work, serve God and study; whilst I find the teaching directly relevant for my local context.”
Mel, Midlands student

Study blocks
Three to four five-day study blocks are held throughout the year in the Midlands. A further three to four five-day study blocks are held at the Christchurch Campus, with student accommodation available at both venues. Support, via regular Skype tutorials, is available every two weeks.

Transformed Belfast
A former industrial powerhouse with a troubled past, Belfast has undergone a remarkable transformation. Youth Link hosts study blocks in Belfast, a Christian charity with the vision to see Churches working together to build excellence in youth work and ministry enabling young people and practitioners to be agents of transformation and hope.  Close to the city centre and easily accessible by bus, Youth Link’s learning space is modern and comfortable with a dedicated library and study space for students.

Funding for NI students

Sponsoring part of a placement student’s tuition fees is an opportunity to invest in an emerging leader’s education and development, preventing financial hardship while studying.  It is also a cost effective way of meeting needs in your church or organisation and building teams for future work and ministry.  Students may also be eligible for Student Finance support during their studies. To find out more, visit our Fees and Finances page.

“As a church, we believe in disciples making disciples. We choose to sponsor students not only to benefit us as a church in terms of leadership capacity, but also to play a part in the building up a generation of competent, professionally trained and qualified youth workers for the future.”
– Nicola Clarke, Youth Worker at Orangefield Presbyterian Church in East Belfast
