About

Andy has been Director of Youth and Community Work since February 2011, taking on course leadership of the undergraduate programmes in 2015, before becoming Vice-Principal (Academic) in 2017.  Prior to working at Moorlands College, Andy served for 7 years as pastor of a non-denominational church in Oxfordshire. Alongside pastoral responsibilities, he invested in the youth work, and saw significant growth and fruit, including several young people going on to theological training.

Andy grew up in Rugby but spent the best part of 3 years working with children and teens in the USA with UrbanPromise, before studying at Moorlands College. He has worked in both church and local authority youth work contexts, and has contributed to local youth work networks, and more significantly, helped set up and develop the UK Christian Youth Work Consortium. Andy has been involved in external examining at another institution, contributing as trustee to a missions agency, and developing and launching new initiatives, such as the 3:15 Youth Apologetics conference.

When not at College, Andy is involved in mentoring and developing others, speaking at churches, conferences and retreats, and leading worship. Andy is married and loves spending time with his amazing family.

Research interests

Andy’s current area of research is a synthesis of his MA research in Christian Leadership, in which he considered contemporary business orientations in church leadership settings, and his teaching at Masters level on digital theology and communication. The intent is to pursue a PhD that considers the digital footprint of Christian leaders, and related areas concerning digital literacy and authority.
