Moorlands College receives a Silver Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) award
The Office for Students has announced that Moorlands College has received its first full TEF award and has been rated Silver.
The TEF recognises and rewards excellent teaching in UK Higher Education providers. The independent panel, comprising of students, academics and higher education experts concluded that Moorlands College ‘delivers high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for its students. It consistently exceeds rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education’.
Moorlands College is the highest rated theological college, and the only independent theological college to receive a full award. In the Statement of Findings, the TEF panel particularly praised the College for the ‘high level of student satisfaction with teaching’. They noted that students ‘acquire knowledge, skills and understanding that are highly valued by employers’ and that ‘students from all backgrounds achieve excellent outcomes.’
The TEF was originally introduced as a way of informing students’ choices about what and where to study, to raise esteem for teaching, to reward a provider’s excellent teaching and to meet the needs of employers and businesses. It takes into account evidence of student satisfaction, retention levels and employment outcomes for students from a variety of backgrounds.
When discussing the recent results, Ian Kirby, Vice Principal (Academic) at Moorlands College, shared: “I’m really delighted to see that Moorlands College has taken the next step forward in its development as one of the leading providers of theological training for Christian ministry in the UK. While the College is far more than a Higher Education institution, receiving a Silver TEF rating demonstrates that we’re truly thriving, providing an education that stands up to the closest levels of scrutiny.”
